Fast Week

The Pan Mass Challenge is just a week away, and I have to admit that the summer has felt strangely off-kilter without being knee deep into all-things PMC... the long training rides, fundraising, and social gatherings... all of it. Last weekend, we came across a few groups of cyclists who were clearly out for some big mileage as their PMC training opportunities wane. For many years, my third weekend in July meant the Cohen Tri-State Classic, trying to hit 75-100 miles along the coast of New Hampshire and Maine before PMC weekend. This has been a strange summer.

On the other hand, it's been a good week, and hard to believe it's the weekend already. We are heading to Vermont tomorrow and I plan to tackle some of the climbs around Ascutney, so I've been slacking a bit on my weekeday rides. Wednesday was a miserably hot day, so I cut it a little short, and yesterday I managed to get a pinch flat that ended my ride before it started. (I'm out of spares.) But I'll make up for some of the slacking this weekend. I'm ready for it.
