I rode a quick loop of Marblehead today for 16 miles in under an hour -- a sure sign that summer is winding down. Usually I'm slowed down by the beach and yacht club traffic, tourists driving 5 mph through downtown Marblehead, and road construction -- but today I just breezed through my loop. School gets underway tomorrow -- ending the shortest summah EVAH. I feel so bad for the boys. Zach has an extra week, starting at St. John's after Labor Day, but for Chip and Will, it's back to the 6:40 a.m. wake-up call. I asked Will if he wished he were headed to St. John's, too, and he said "No", because he "wouldn't be able to play for the Big Blue". (Ah. Yes. Of course. Football. What was I thinking?) I'm planning to get in some longer rides over the next few days. The school calendar may say it's fall, but I'm not ready to concede our summer just yet.
