Happy Thanksgiving!

We've had spectacular weather this Thanksgiving holiday week with temperatures in the sixties. After P2 on Wednesday, I brought my road bike home, planning to get in a short ride on Thanksgiving morning before Will's football game at ten. (Unfortunately, the Big Blue suffered a crushing loss to Marblehead... and I'm not even going to mention the score.)

It was nice to get in a ride, (even if it was just ten miles), before joining the family for Thanksgiving dinner. Since I got in a short workout early in the day, I didn't feel guilty having a small piece of lemon pie and chocolate cake for dessert. (Cake, because it's niece Hannah's birthday, and how could I not celebrate that?)

I'm in training, though, with 15 pounds to drop. Another short ride on Friday out to Winter Island and the Willows hopefully took care of my cake indescretion.

Love this mild weather. Sure wish it would continue. Happy Thanksgiving!

Last LAX

I haven't been posting to the blog lately... though I've been riding. My training has taken a back seat to family commitments and house projects as the summer gets underway. For the most part, I've been completely emersed in landscaping projects -- bringing life back to my flower gardens after a tough winter, (during which I lost two small hydrangea and several other perennials), and overhauling the vegetable beds that were neglected last year in favor of RAAM. My projects are almost done... so soon I won't feel guilty for taking off on a long ride.

On Sunday, I headed out to loop Nahant, lost track of time, and then had to hustle home to get Chip to his last lacrosse game in Danvers. We were almost late. Oops. This has not been my best year as a lax parent - though fortunately, the coaches have been pretty cool about it.

Last game... summer is soooo close.

Hot Buttered Popcorn

Looped out to Winter Island and Salem Willows on my ride yesterday. As I turned down the path from Beach Street to the back end of the Willows, I could smell the popcorn at E.W. Hobbs. Mmmmmmm. So good!! I don't eat popcorn, but I did stop to buy a few popcorn bars for the boys -- orange and vanilla, their favorites -- and carried them home, stuffed down the back of my jersey, for the rest of my ride. Hahaha... Lucky boys. (They were happy.)
