Day 17, 30 Days of Biking, Gloucester

Back shore of Gloucester

Chip's away game against Cape Ann meant taking the bike with me, dropping him off at the field at Gloucester High School for pre-game warm-up, and then heading out for a spin around Gloucester for an hour. As we arrived at Gloucester High School, with the field and parking lot to our left, I looked ahead at the long hill beyond the school and said, "It's a good thing I don't have to climb that."

Chip looked at the hill, and then over to the street on our right, and said, "You might want to rethink that" -- pointing to the street sign that said GAFFNEY STREET at the base.

OMG. (Coach) Shayne Gaffney is haunting me.

I looped the outer roads of Gloucester, stopping several times for photos, and then hustled back to catch the game before the end of the first quarter. As I came up to the hill, I took a deep breath, and climbed to the top. I've been up that hill once before -- 2 years ago. This time around, I was not as fast.

(Congrats to Chip's team for a great win.)
